Every writer is a thief, though some of us are more clever than others at disguising our robberies. The reason writers are such slow readers is that we are ceaselessly searching for things we can steal and then pass off as our own…
We are shaped and fashioned by what we love.

maddddyy asked: thanks for the following! are you also a third culture kid (based from a few of your posts)?

Yes, I am! I’m half-Thai, half-American, lived in Poland, Cyprus, and Thailand… I really liked your post about not being really fulfilled, even in college - I could relate to that. Sometimes I feel like that too! It may just be the curse/blessing of being a TCK haha!

I made gingersnaps today for the refugees that I tutor. It was the last time I’ll tutor for them this semester. One of the refugees from Afghanistan read out the essay she wrote about her life - she lost her 7-year-old son and her husband was arrested by the Taliban. She didn’t seem him for 4 years, not until after she came to the US as a refugee. The others joined in, and two of the women had their husbands killed in Afghanistan… We were all filled with tears, but they were grateful for their lives now.
As for the gingersnaps, the first batch I burnt because of the faulty recipe instructions (haha yes, I blame it on others!). I think they enjoyed them though! I guess I was feeling nostalgic for winter cookies?
